This was quite disappointing after Gold/Silver and Ruby/Sapphire made strides and attempted to do new things. In fact, so little has changed that it seems like this generation did not add much at all. Adding 107 Pokemon and online play seems to be about it. The gameplay has made minimal changes since Ruby/Sapphire. Gameplay Have you ever played Pokemon? Well, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum is no different. Content and story wise, this is the weakest entry since Pokemon Red/Blue. Speaking of post game content, it is disappointing and short. I completed it and the post game content in twenty-six hours. Afterwards you defeat the Elite 4 and go down in history as a champion. As usual you travel the region, in this case Sinnoh, to defeat the eight gyms and their leaders. Not exactly sure why it stood out, but it did. The only cool part to me was when the leader was speaking to his crowd of minions. Nothing special, and I actually did not even pay any attention in the slightest. As usual you end up fighting the leader in between gym seven and eight. Team Galactic is trying to do some evil plan, and it is up to you as a child to stop it. Where Ruby/Sapphire made an attempt to mix this up, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum go back to the tried and true. Story The story formula is worn out by this point. 2009 – Pokemon Platinum 2010 – Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver 2011 – Pokemon Black/White 2012 – Pokemon Black 2/Wh– Pokemon X/Y 2014 – Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire Unfortunately for Platinum, it is also the laziest and most uninspired of the series. Ever since its release in 2009, Pokemon has been on a yearly release schedule. In fact, it is the last ultimate version of any generation of Pokemon games. Would it rock a 3D look? What new features would be added? I played Pokemon Platinum, the “ultimate” version of Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Riding off the momentum of Ruby/Sapphire in 2003 and FireRed/LeafGreen in 2004, everyone anticipated the release of the first DS Pokemon game. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl was released in 2007. Content Warning: This game is rated E for everyone and is as clean as every other Pokemon game.
